Items You Need to Get

LIST OF INGREDIENTS

To prepare jollof rice, you will need the following ingredients:

 

1. Rice (long-grain or basmati) – 2 cups

2. Tomato paste – 1/4 cup

3. Vegetable oil – 1/4 cup

4. Chicken or beef stock – 3 cups

5. Onion – 1 large, finely chopped

6. Red bell pepper – 1 large, finely chopped

7. Scotch bonnet pepper (or any hot pepper of your choice) – 1, finely chopped (adjust to taste)

8. Garlic cloves – 3, minced

9. Ginger – 1 teaspoon, grated

10. Bay leaves – 2

11. Thyme – 1 teaspoon

12. Curry powder – 1 teaspoon

13. Smoked paprika – 1 teaspoon

14. Salt – 1 teaspoon (adjust to taste)

15. Black pepper – 1/2 teaspoon

16. Chicken or beef (optional) – 1 pound, cut into pieces

17. Mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, green beans) – 1 cup, chopped (fresh or frozen)

18. Stock cube (optional) – 1

19. Water – 1 cup

20. Fresh parsley or coriander/cilantro leaves – for garnishing (optional)

 

Please note that these quantities can be adjusted based on your preferences and the number of servings you want to prepare. Also, feel free to add or modify the ingredients according to your personal taste.

 

LIST OF UTENSILS

To prepare jollof rice, you will need the following utensils:

 

1. Large pot with a tight-fitting lid

2. Wooden spoon or spatula for stirring

3. Cutting board

4. Chef’s knife or kitchen knife for chopping

5. Measuring cups and spoons

6. Can opener (if using canned tomato paste)

7. Grater (if using fresh ginger)

8. Garlic press or mincer (if desired)

9. Mixing bowl (optional, for rinsing rice)

10. Serving spoon or fork for serving

11. Plate or platter for serving

12. Aluminum foil (optional, for covering the pot lid to create a tighter seal)
